GSXR 600 L1 - Painted with Lights

Sony A7 II  |  ISO 100  |  F11  |  1/10''  +  On Tripod  +  Remote IR

Amazed with a technic called "Paint with Lights" photography by Eric William Curry few years ago from YouTube, recently I and my buddy 'Napie' again went out at night looking for a dark location and play around with what we have... well, we had our bike with us and a phone in hand...

Obviously the bike is gonna be our subject for the night.. Wondering why I've mentioned the Phone??? aha..you're right, we used the Torchlight app as the main light source to get the shot above. Believe me... it's not that easy.

We've taken hundreds of shots piece by piece beginning from the upper part of the front cowl until to the tip of paddock stand on the ground. Loaded them into Photoshop, layered them on top of each other subsequently applied "Lighten" Blending Mode to all of them. But then, we've ended up with a lot of light leaks and strikes all over the composition. Hmm..using "Layer Mask" and brushed off to eliminate them does the trick.

Looking at the end result was a joyful moment which I didn't realise that we have spent almost 6 to 7 hours of shooting and editing just to get this one shot... It's worth it...!!!
And...Yes, we're gonna do more projects with some other bikes, adding chicks in the shot and smoke some cigar while cherishing the result...until next time...chow..!
